The pandemic during the last 18 months has disrupted many facets of our practices, including how we get new patients. Screenings were gone and now, in same cases, they are available on a limited basisDinner with the doctor were gone and now, in some cities, you might be able to pull it off. Lunch & Learns were gone, and now, in some areas in the country, you might be “allowed”. Internal workshops were limited and unfruitful due to social distancing guidelines and resistance from patients to invite their friends.

And because of this most doctors turned online to make up for the lost opportunities but quickly realized that online marketing can be expensive and produce low-quality leads.

Opportunity 1: A new relevant topic

While most chiropractors have been talking about posture, ergonomics and stress, a few have offered a talk on the new "sitting disease". The number of hours that people sit on a daily basis has been steadily rising and the pandemic just accelerated the process. Sitting just graduated to become one of the major contributors to poor health and employers have noticed. Which brings me to the next opportunity.

Opportunity 2: A new way to get a talk

There is no magic behind getting talks - it is work. At the end of the day, you have to sell the value of your presentation. There are many different ways to get talks, things like lead boxes, cold calling, email marketing, and internal referrals from patients. While all these methods work, they take time and effort. During the pandemic, I discovered a better, more effective way to get talks: the wellness coordinator strategy. Employers are practically begging coordinators to bring in a professional to address this growing concern.  The key to knowing how to find, attract and enroll these wellness directors but I've cracked the code on that as well.

Opportunity 3: A new way to present

Most chiropractors would agree that doing a group presentation live and in-person in front of a captive audience, is one of the most effective ways to get new patients. While these types of events will always be available, there is a new kid on the block - the virtual talk. Virtual presentations are here to stay because there is a permanent shift that happened in the marketplace: remote or hybrid working.

 

Remote working (or hybrid) is a permanent shift for 3 main reasons.

  1. Companies save money because they save on overhead
  2. productivity is the same or higher
  3. employee satisfaction is higher because they have more flexibility when working from home.

SO what does this mean to you?

It means that employee will keep meeting online and that is where the opportunities lie. Because so many people are going virtual meetings for work, they have become accustomed to the line experience, It is familiar to them. And in many cases prefer it.
